Aug. 16, 2016, Milwaukee, Wis. — FEI Behavioral Health, a social enterprise with a 35-year history and a leader in workforce resilience from crisis management to EAP, will present at the upcoming 2016 SHRM-Atlanta Symposium in Duluth, Georgia taking place on Aug. 23, 2016.
FEI’s Senior Director Terri Howard will present an informative session, “The Critical Importance of Situational Awareness: HR’s Role in Workplace Violence Prevention” on Aug. 23, 3 p.m. EST. This interactive workshop will aid human resource professionals in increasing situational awareness while providing a foundation for integrating a higher level of safety into their organization’s culture.
The session will lead human resource professionals to consider their responsibility in creating a workplace where employees feel as safe as possible and are equipped to deal with the unthinkable. From a human resources perspective, attendees will increase their overall understanding of situational awareness and personal safety. Participants also will receive practical guidance on responding to an active shooter situation.
Howard has expertise in manager consults, coaching and training and is responsible for managing many large EAP/Crisis accounts for FEI Behavioral Health. She is responsible for coordinating the people support and psychological first aid services for those impacted by a crisis, and develops drills and exercises aimed at testing current plans and procedures. Over the years, Howard has contributed to several international standards and guidelines on crisis management and workplace violence prevention, including ASIS, a global community of more than 38,000 security practitioners, and the FBI.
